Ol Donyo Wuas Tours, Accommodation
in Ol Donyo Wuas
You are accompanied by our local guides on all activities
and they impart plenty of knowledge about the area's flora and fauna,
history and culture and much more.
Back at the lodge after a hot shower and a candlelit
three-course dinner, relax with a sky full of stars, the ever-present
sounds of the African night, maybe a lion roaring, a hyena laughing
or an elephant rumbling, as the animals keep track of each other,
further enhancing this magical wilderness environment.
Early morning tea or coffee is served to you in your
room, as the sun comes up behind the Chyulus and the plains light
up in front of you, you get your first glimpse of Kilimanjaro. Dressed
for the cool morning, which will warm up considerably, set off on
horseback or on a walking safari, or on a gamedrive. Get in amongst
the giraffe on horseback, track an elephant, look for cheetah on
the plains with Kilimanjaro as a backdrop.
After a couple of hours or so, arrive at a breakfast
set up under a shadey thorntree. After a full breakfast, meander
back to the lodge by whatever mode of transport you choose. This
usually gets you back to the lodge about 11.30 a.m 12.00 midday.
Time for a bit of "down time" to relax before
lunch. In the heat of the day, there is time to relax, read,
enjoy a siesta. After tea, either driving, walking or horseriding
out on the plains, this is the perfect time for observing predators
in action and as the sun slips over the horizon we find a suitable
spot to reminisce on the day with a sundowner.
After wards.....
Wrapped up warm in masai blankets, head back to the
lodge game driving with a spotlight to try and the spot some of
the more unusual nocturnal game. Back at the lodge for 7.30ish 8.00
p.m. time for a shower and a drink by the fire before dinner. At
this stage we plan the next day. Activities can be arranged to suit
you, full day drives with picnic going up into the hills, and other
options are available.
